Where can I go for discounted pregnancy help?
I’m waiting οn mу medicaid tο gο through, I hаd mу interview аnd gave thеm аll mу information, bυt I haven’t heard anything frοm thеm іn a week аnd whеn I call thе office nο one seems tο know anything аnd mу case worker іѕ never іn hеr office, іf mу medicaid didn’t gο through I саn’t afford medical care, whеrе саn I gο fοr discounted medical care fοr mу baby?
Stay on top of Medicaid, but be as pleasant as possible. I had to keep calling to follow up but I didn’t want to be too big a pain and delay the process any! It did take about 6 weeks to go through.
In the mean time contact your OB and talk to the billing manager. Most doctors offer discounts to unisured patients. I met with them and they basically gave me a pre-pay package plan to start with. Once Medicaid kicked in they refunded what I had already paid. The hospital will usually offer the same type of program. If you don’t have a regular OB, just call around. They’re usually pretty good at giving you info. over the phone. Planned Parenthood or your local Health Department or WIC may also be able to point you in the right direction.
Beware of the Maternity Card. I looked into it and my doctors office never even heard of it. As it turned out, they gave me a larger discount than the card would have gotten me and you have to pay for the card on top of it.
Good luck and congratulations!
Did you try Planned Parenthood? They might be able to help
You could look into the maternity card. I read an article about in a pregnancy magazine.

I had a lot of trouble with medicaid. It took approx 1.5 months before I actually heard anything. Everything worked out in the end though since medicaid has retro coverage up to 3 months before you applied.
planned parenthood is always a good choice for low income parents to be
The local health department should have some resources or referrals so that you will receive proper prenatal care. Some hospitals offer free or reduced rate prenatal care in a special clinic that trains medical interns,or you can look in the yellow pages under"Abortion Alternatives",(or e-mail sharedpregnancy@msn.com).I do not know how far along you are,but Medicaid sometimes can be retro-active,so you should find a participating doctor, and ask about how that works. Also, have you applied for the W.I.C. program yet?.Often,if you are not eligible for Medicaid you are still able to receive this supplemental food program-and it REALLY helps keep you & the baby healthy!.Take care.
