Where can I get money for medical bills while keeping my home?
My wife had brain cancer with no insurance. We would like to find some help with the medical bills without ending up on the street (we own our home) or ending up neck deep in debt with loans. Anyone have and idea?

Hi, try contacting a Social Worker. Also see if your hospital offers a Financial Assistance program. Also I would check with the American Cancer Society to see if there is any information there too. http://www.cancer.org/docroot/home/index.asp or 1-800-ACS-2345. My thoughts & prayers are with you.
Most hospitals will work with you to pay back hospital bills. I spent several years paying back what I could each month which was about $25 to $50 a month. As long as they are getting SOME money and you pay regularly, they should continue to work with you.
You should be able to work with the hospital/doctor’s that have billed you. Go to the accounting department and let them know your situation. Things also should be billed differently with no insurance, most places give you a break. Work out a payment plan that you can live with…i’m sure they will be able to help you.
