What options does someone have if they HAVE to go to the dentist but does not have insurance?….?

My sister was without dental insurance and she ended up going to a dental school in NYC and got everything that needed to be done for about 30% of what it would have cost at a regular dentist. If you can’t afford to pay for it out of pocket I would highly recommend searching for a dental school as well, the savings would more then make up for the hassle and travel costs.

call some insurance companies and get quots or go to a community health clinic or ask for a payment plan or ask if thay have a slidding scale meaning that they will go off of how much money u make
“Berry” has a good option. I have dental insurance, but I have used my local dental school for braces, extractions, and gum grafts.

You have to be screened, but once you become a patient, it’s easy to have dental work done there. You may also have to wait a little longer to have work done, since the students may must be at a particular point in their curriculum to work on you and the instructor must approve the Plan of Treatment.
Students will be working on you, but depending on what you have done, most of them may already be dentists who are continuing their education (orthodontics, periodontics, etc.). And they are supervised by instructors.
My braces were about $3500 (two years) and my gum grafts are about $350 each. And a tooth extraction was $45. Then the hygienist students cleaned my teeth for free.
