I have medicare and as far as I know, it’s a 20% copay, which is quite of bit of money. I am lucky to have another insurance through my husband’s employer so I never have to pay. It’s a good idea to ask the insurance coordinator at the hospital how much out of pocket, if it needs to be pre authorized and if medicare even covers it.
Doctors have different charges. Medicare pays around 60% of the cost of the procedure, thats why doctors often bill a higher amount than you believe it costs them.

You can also ask them if they accept medicare pay as payment in full.. Can’t remember the term, but it’s in the medicare handbook or online.
