I am a little nervous about having a tooth pulled on Thrusday. It will be the first time and hopfully the last, what type of meds will the dentist prescribe for pain? How long will the pain last because I am scduduled for 9am and I need to return to work the same day?

I am very scarred of the dentist. I think my filling has chipped and I would like to know if i need a total filling replacement , what does the dentist do. Do they have to redrill, or is there a way they can remove the filling without having to drill? Also, the chip is very very small and cannot be seen, but i can feel it with my tounge, could he just fill in the chip, or will there be a total replacement of the filling?

I should be going to the dentist sometime this month, and I’d like to get the gap closed between my two top teeth and two bottom teeth.

I’m 20 so I don’t really want braces plus my teeth are mostly straight.

What can a dentist do to close gaps other than getting braces?

The first dentist I saw said root canal and its possible for the tooth to brake during the procedure. The second dentist I saw said I had to have it remove by a oral surgeon. It is a slight fracture in the root of my tooth. You guys choose for me. I don’t like to lose a tooth if it can be saved .

I had a filling put in on the 2nd that was supposed to only last for one week. Its lasted, but its wearing away now. Underneath this filling is a layer of cotton and then the nerve is totally exposed (the fault student dentist fiasco, don’t ask). The endodonist said that if I was in any kind of pain at all it was an emergency and to call immediately. Its been in pain for more than a week, and now I can no longer chew without incredible nerve pain from the afflicted tooth. It feels like the filling is being ripped out.

I am incredibly frustrated and annoyed, I’ve told my mother my symptoms on several occasions, but her reaction always is "the appointment is soon, just take some Advil and don’t chew on that side of your mouth". If the doctor hadn’t seemed so adamant about us calling then I wouldn’t have a problem at all, but I’m worried about what will happen.

My mother won’t call the dentist like he insisted that we should, so how do I convince her?
The endodontist is a family friend and doing it for free, actually.

My son just came back from the dentist with a big silver filling in a permanent molar. The strange thing was that no x-ray was taken. The dentist just felt around with pick and then did a lot of drilling. Was the cavity really as big as it looks. Or did dentist drill extra to guarantee he got the whole cavity?

So I went to the dentist last week and they told me I have to see an oral surgeon because the tooth is curved or something like that. What is the difference? Also will they do anything different to pull the tooth or do they just have different tools to use? I’m confused, someone please tell me the difference.
BTW it’s to get a tooth pulled.
When you say general anesthesia do you mean just the regular needle they give you in the gum or do you mean they would have to put me to sleep, because I really don’t want to be put to sleep.

Hi, I was just wondering how long it takes to become a dentist after obtaining a bachelors in dental hygiene?

Formerly, I am a grade 12 student in canada seeking to become a dentist. I do not possess knowledge of the time it takes to finish collgege and finsh studies in order to befit a dentist in public health or general dentistry. Could i know the least amount of years it takes, please?

How long does it take to become a dentist, some people say 7 years others say 8, and what is the difference between becoming a dentist in 7 years or 8, in other words what does this depend on, also if anybody knows what is the intensity of dental school.

I have a wearing away of enamel on one of my teeth that is sensitive. My dentist told he he will probably just desensitizes it. I am wondering if anyine can tell me what exactly he will do to my tooth and if it is painful.

I was told I needed all 4 wisdom teeth out and my dentist said he would do it in his surgery as he thought it best to avoid a general aneasthetic (or however you spell it !). He has removed two of them in his surgery but wants me to go to hospital for one of the remaining ones. He said it’s close to the nerve, which is why he doesn’t want to do it. Is he going back on what he said about gen aneasthetics or do the hospital just have a diff way of getting them out ? Also my dentist is a private one (I’m in the UK), will I have to pay to have this treatment in hospital ? Anyone know what the cost in comparison to having it done at the dentist is ? I think I paid about £120 for each tooth out so far. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

I do not like to visit the dentist & it was only when i had to get some filling done that i had to go.
I would not mind going to dentist every six months but sometimes i think that it is a marketing gimmick to keep the dentists in business.
Is brushing twice not enough to avoid going to the doctor ?
Also if we chew Neem Sticks will that be helpful too in avoiding a visit to the dentist ?

I go to the dentist each month and each time I dread the experience. The reason why I hate going to the dentist is because of the toothpaste. I just feels all crunchy and when they put it on it feels really weird. I ask for mint flavor because that is the most tasteless paste in my opinion. Is there some other toothpaste I can ask them to use? Is there a way I can make it more enjoyable?

My job is getting ready to change insurance and I need to go see a dentist. My problem is that I don’t want to start seeing one dentist, change insurance and then have to find another dentist. Does anyone know a good dentist here in fresno that might accept both insurances?

The dentist gave my 6 year old 3 shots, one right after the other, before beginning the procedure. It was horrible. Is that normal? Wouldn’t just one shot have been sufficient?

Can a dentist clean the pores of teeths which are caused due to eating tobacco? How often can a person visit a dentist in a year?

I work at a preschool/afterschool program for troubled kids and we want to have a dentist come in and make a presentation about dental health. I’m not sure what my first step is. I’ve looked at the ADA website and my local dental society website, but didn’t find anything. Should I just ask my dentist to do it? Or is there some other way?

If you are looking into braces and stuff like that, do you have to go to an orthodontist? My dentist provides cosmetic services, but my mother-in-law says I should go to an ortho.

Specifically, if a dental lab makes the crown no matter which dentist orders it, how important is it to have a good dentist?

Stupid question…

What sorts of procedures to dentist use to remove wisdom teeth?

Do they just pull out the tooth in the way?

Or is more surgical than that?

I have a dentist appointment in the morning, and am so scared that I know I will be up all night just thinking about it.
This happens every time I need to go to the dentist and I don’t know what to do about it. Please no rude answers– this is a real question/concern that is really impacting my life.

I am going to the dentist first thing Monday morning to have him look at what I am almost 100% sure is an abscessed tooth. I’m assuming that he will prescribe me antibiotics, but how long after first seeing me will he likely preform a root canal on the tooth? Is it possible that if I see him Monday, he will work on it by Wednesday? Obviously Thanksgiving is on Thursday, I have family plans on Friday and then I’m back to school on Sunday.

What are the chances of this? How soon will he work on it, most likely?

I am VERY afriad of the dentist, but I need some real work done. Can anybody tell me somebody that’s nice and kind?

Hellllllllla questions for ya:
1. What courses should you take in college in order to get into dental school/to become a dentist?
2. How many years after high school does it take to become a dentist?
3. What is the average starting salary of a dentist?
