If a patient passes away at the hospital, would their medicare insurance pay for the medical bills?
Thеrе іѕ nο Life Insurance, nοr аnу οthеr means tο cover bills.
Whаt hаѕ bееn уουr experience wіth Medicare wіth taking care οf hospital/medical bills?
Medicare will pay what it covers – not necessarily 100% of the bills. The deceased’s estate would be responsible for the rest.
Medicare Part A pays for Medicare approved inpatient care at 100% after the inpatient deductible.
Medicare Part B pays the Medicare approved outpatient services at 80% after the outpatient deductible.
Medical providers may not charge more than 15% above what Medicare approves, if they accept Medicare for payment. The patient would be responsible to pay this difference, unless the patient has a Medicare Supplement to pay the deductibles, the 20% outpatient copay, and the 15% overcharge.
Medicare doesn’t usually pay 100%. It pays based on which coverage they have – the estate has to pay for the rest. If the estate has nothing, then the hospital eats the bills.
They have to cover the medical bills. Just because the patient does not live, that dosnt dismiss medicare from their obligation to pay the bills.
