I have BCBSFL HMO and was told by Omnipod that I need a prior authorization. What is the process like?
Omnipod tοld mе thаt I need tο gеt a prior authorization fοr thеіr insulin pump. Hοw exactly іѕ thіѕ process lіkе? Whаt dο I need tο ѕау whеn I call insurance?
According to any BCBS only type 1 people qualify for insulin pumps.
You must get your doctor to write that the insulin pump would aid you in good glucose control. The doctor is the only one who can determine this for you.
I was denied by BCBSNM!
Your doctor should be the one to deal with the prior authorization, so call up his/her office and ask them about it. They will be able to tell you what to do if they require you to do anything else.
It is normally very easy. You should be able to call your doctor and have one of the office staff call your HMO and give the authorization. It has always gone quickly for me.
