The deduction is only for the people that buy into the health care plan, and the deduction is still far less than what anyone currently pays for a private health care plan. I don’t see the problem.

How is that any different than paying a health care premium? Either way you still have to pay for it. Health care is not free, I think most people understand that concept.

Here in the UK we get all our healthcare for free. I find the healthcare system in the US not only shocking, but I am even more astounded that people are OBJECTING to a better healthcare system.

No silly, the dollars spent on employer provided health care will be taxed, but the money will be reported as income to the employee. The hit will come to the worker at tax time. This is an important distinction because it will reverse the tendancy of workers to push for the most expensive plan they can get (without penalty) and create a push toward more efficient, lower cost health plans. It’s called free market capitalism, it will benefit the employer AND drive costs down.
simply put – the consumer will now decide with their own dollars which plan to choose – not decide with their employers money.
I think most of them understand that. But for a lot of people that deduction would be less than they’d have to pay for insurance now.
Do you understand that nothing, absolutely nothing, in life is free? Everything must be paid for. If you receive a benefit and you do not pay for it, someone else did.
Yes, I’m a fiscal conservative supporting health care reform, and I realize that it, like everything else we do, must be paid for. Only Bush, apparently, thought that you could cut taxes and increase spending.
There is a new tax for the Rich at $250k of $2,800.00 just for health care. That’s above and beyond what they already pay for health care.
Their pre tax premium payment is going away so the premiums will go up by at least 30% depending on filing status.
If you are single and making $46K with no insurance, you will pay a $2,500.00 annual penalty. If you get the plan, the premium will be made with post-tax money so add 33.4%.

Yes, I know that, and I’m quite okay with it. Why? Because even though right now I have my own insurance through my employer, there is always that possibility of getting fired or laid off.
If I get fired or laid off, I no longer have a job and, therefor, no longer have health insurance. As an asthmatic, I can not afford to go without health insurance.
Until I could find another job that would grant me that insurance, I would have to rely on the insurance Obama would have made available. So, I don’t mind paying for what I may someday have to rely on, even if it’s only for a short time.
Now, in that short time, not only will my medications be covered, but if I were to break my leg and have a several thousand dollar bill, I wouldn’t have to pay all of that.
All of a sudden, sacrificing a few dollars to save myself thousands doesn’t seem like such an imposition.

I get a kick out of all these liberals that vehemently support and protect Obama and his policies – they act as if his decisions will not effect them – only other people. They act as if they are immune to the coming Socialism and the devastating effect it will have on our country.
What does it mean when they say that they “want Obama to succeed?” Does that mean that his supporters just want him to “personally” succeed at passing through all of his programs? This is the sense I get. His supporters seem to be only focused on this man and his own “personal” success RATHER than focusing on the outcome and ramifications of his decisions.
If this obnoxious plan is passed it will create a minimum of 23 NEW government programs all with huge budgets into the hundreds of millions – all designed to “administer” this debacle and all filled to the brim with over paid BUREAUCRATS – who know they will be sitting on a monopoly and have no real incentive to provide you with any type of efficient or good service.
Be sure that you will be taxed and taxed and taxed. To begin with they are proposing a payroll tax for business owners of 8% if the employer does NOT provide health coverage. They are also talking a 56% tax on top earners over $1 million – in doing this Obama wants to suck $500 Billion from these people a year! These business owners. These American success stories. This will cost America jobs – but this is what the dictator Obama wants. o_O
