Well it depends on what you need and if dental insurance is just for you or you and your family. I say get a discount card ameriplan offers one for $9.00 a month for just you or $20 for family. You can start using it within a week or less and instead of insurance you can use it on pretty much any procedure needed instead of having to wait up to 2 yrs. Think about you need a root canal and you have to wait a yr. think about all the money you wasted on your insurance when you could of just went down and paid less to have it done. With the discount card you save from 50%-70% but you have to pay before you get any work down.

Sure there is, but you do end up paying more for the insurance, copays and deductibles than you would if you paid out of pocket.
